Giant

We watched George Stevens “Giant” last night. Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, James Dean. I hadn’t seen it in so long that what I remembered seems like such a small part of the whole story. What I originally remember about the story was the Jet Rink (James Dean) character and his oil strike on the land that was given him by the sister of Rock Hudson. The much larger story is about the family itself about oil and about racism and generations in america.

I was pretty surprised to see Dennis Hopper and Sal Mineo from “Rebel Without a Cause” appear as well. I probable didn’t even know who they were the last time I saw the movie, which was sometime in the 80’s.
